Had badly will Mark Cuban’s proposed new football league fail?

  • dancanman posted: 19 May at 4:53 am

ha! you are 100% right! it will not last 4 months! i hope everything that MARK CUBAN TRIES FAILS! I LOVED THE LOOK ON HIS AROGANT FACE WHEN DALLAS WENT DOWN IN FLAMES!!

It will be a dismal failure. Millions of dollars down the drain… It won’t last 3 months.

i hadn’t heard, but there is no competition for the NFL.

  • icehoundxx posted: 25 May at 2:48 pm

The NFL by itself is too strong for any direct competition.

The XFL had a couple good ideas, but for the most part was a waste of time.

The CFL (Canadian Football League) has its own fan base and set of operations apart from the NFL.

The AFL (Arena Football League) has been around for years and has a solid fan base. It continues to hold well and doesn’t try to force itself onto some traditionalists regarding the game. It’s a good league with solid fast paced action.

I don’t know what Mark Cuban has in mind, but if he plans on going head to head with the NFL, he won’t do well at all. If he finishes one season, he will be lucky (a la XFL once again).

    USFL – toast

    XFL – cocksmacked

    UFL – ?????

itll be a very interesting experiment

i give it one season if the following things go rite:

    1. the games are supposed to be on friday nights. so if its during the NFL season, it mite get those who cant wait for sunday

    2. he gets enough endorsments, advertisers, sponsors, etc

    3. he doesnt let sean salisbury or merril hodge or mel kiper do any analyzing / broadcasting

    4. he prays

if all of this goes well he will get one full season out of the UFL

If he runs it in the spring as a minor league, maybee he can con the NFL into sponsering his effort, since most players can’t stand playing in Europe.

  • santosh23 posted: 30 May at 1:13 am

The same way his show THE BENAFACTOR failed… lol and the same way his #1 team in the league failed against the #8 team …. hahah…… he might be rich but so far his team or businesses arent doing so good… haha… looser.. Go ahead start up another league…. its be funny to see him loose his *** on it.

  • Richard C posted: 31 May at 1:37 pm

Real smart…..compete with the NFL with players who can’t make it in the NFL. I think Cuban realizes the only way he can hold a title trophy at the end of the year is to own a whole league.

Hey Cuban, I have an elementary school down the street from me that has a soccer field which could be converted over to a MCL (Mark Cuban League) stadium to seat upwards of 25 fans. Give me a call and let’s talk!!

  • The Cincinnati Kid posted: 31 May at 2:40 pm

It will become more popular than the NFL.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to take another hit of *****.

  • Fartface McNutsack posted: 03 Jun at 11:05 am

I say it will either tie or outlast the XFL by about a week lol!

  • TJ posted: 04 Jun at 7:01 am

These are 2 or 3 rounders we are talking about. Sometimes these are the ones that blow up and are big. Most are 2 or 3rd rounders that just blow up. It will last longer than Vinces’s XFL because it won’t be trying to just get JUST the male viewers or pornolize the way football is played. Cuban’s league still will be football as opposed to in between WWE and NFL Blitz.

  • mr danger posted: 06 Jun at 2:01 pm

I think that it can make money if Cuban does it right.
Start the season around St. Patricks Day
    Championship Game July 4th
Use publicly funded NFL stadiums to play in
Have a good salary cap, after all it will be a buyers market . If a player doesn’t get drafted by the NFL or gets cut after an NFL training camp ,where else is a guy with maybe a bachelors degree and no work experience going to get a job that pays 100+G’s a year ?
The key to the league making money is to take advantage of the slack time in sports programming between when football ends & baseball heats up.
What you guys aren’t getting is that Cuban’s leauge will be competing with golf, basketball ,baseball and hockey for a TV audience not the NFL.

  • Guillermo T posted: 07 Jun at 3:12 pm

I think it might last a little longer but not by much if it does. Its going to be the XFL meets the CBA (when Isiah Thomas ran it) . . . i think its going to be such a flop, The AFL has a too strong a hold i believe when it comes to being the 2nd Football league in the US.

  • D-Low posted: 11 Jun at 12:30 am

I think you guys aren’t giving this idea enough credit. Isn’t there a huge demand for pro football in this country? Don’t you wish (like I do) that September will come quickly so we can get back to football season?

If Cuban does it right, I think it can absolutely succeed. It has to be 11-on-11 football, and it has to run during the NFL offseason. I hope Cuban gives it a shot, because I guarantee you that most NFL fans will at least give it a look.

  • J posted: 11 Jun at 2:43 pm

he’s trying to get players from the 3rd round of the draft and down to play. y would they want to. it will be a disaster. the NFL rules.

  • Da Rated R Superstar posted: 13 Jun at 4:56 am

im thinkin worse then the XFL

  • BestOfTheBest posted: 14 Jun at 5:39 pm

Honestly if the UFL starts there league 1 week after the Superbowl and finish maybe 2 weeks before the NFL season starts they can be successful for a couple of years but after a few years they will fold like toilet paper.

  • tonytuch_99 posted: 14 Jun at 7:25 pm

HOPEFULLY it fails very badly as much as his Mavericks.

  • Terry C posted: 17 Jun at 3:19 pm

So bad that it won’t even happen…

  • ndmagicman posted: 19 Jun at 7:39 am

I’d be surprised if it ever even gets off the ground. The guy is a good businessman I think he’ll realize it would be a money losing proposition for the beginning.

  • Rich B posted: 20 Jun at 12:40 pm

I for one enjoyed the XFL, and I really don’t know why everyone hated it so much. As far as my prediction for mark cuban’s league, it will probably end up with the same fate as the xfl, 3-4 months and it will be done.

  • Josha S posted: 21 Jun at 10:52 am

They want to place the teams in non NFL cities (LA, Las Vegas, Orlando, etc.). In a sense, it could work, but the problem is, is that there would be way too much competition for viewership and corporate sponsorship against all of the other sports.

It will truly be up to the fans if they want to support it, and it will truly live or die just based on that.
